Wow, that's stupid as hell. I don't expect there will be a ton of scratched pitchers due to COVID testing delays, but it definitely will happen a few times. I like betting totals and first 5 totals, so I guess I'm fucked now, those bets will have action even if they decide last minute to do a garbage bullpen day.

If a pitcher's test results come back delayed due to covid testing, that pitcher might have to be scratched.

I bet price and probabilities. Whether a player gets scratched at a different position or in any other sport is always built into that.

Lineup changes in other sports have always effected odds as much or more than in baseball, yet even when LeBron James sits out, those bets still get graded as action.

Well, a few points. There are only a few NBA players that are worth the value of a starting pitcher, and probably only Lebron James is worth the value of a good starting pitcher downgraded to a spot start from a minor league scrub. And maybe not even Lebron.

Also, the concept of a healthy NBA player not playing is a relatively new phenomenon. Usually, if a player was a last minute scratch, then there were already injury concerns priced into the line.

Agree it's BS. I'm hoping this won't affect me too much since I almost never place a wager until <5 minutes before 1st pitch, kickoff, tip etc.
